Common Mistakes That Lead To Weight Gain

Over the years I have had the pleasure of helping thousands of our clients lose weight, get healthy and more importantly maintain their weight loss

Weight gain is just the accumulation of little things done wrong overtime that eventually leads to disaster.

Here are 8 mistakes that I see most often….

1) Not making time for physical activity.

One hour a day is 4% of your time. Unless you make it a priority then it will never happen.

There is NEVER a good time to start a GREAT THING.

“You don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great”

2) Mindless eating in front of the TV after dinner.

Nothing wrong with eating a little something something once in a while BUT let’s avoid food coma that means you overeat. If you do want to eat opt for lean proteins and green veggies.

3) Drinking too much alcohol or sweetened drinks like specialty coffees.

Alcohol is a concentrated carbohydrate and it has 7 calories per gram. Fat has 9 and protein and carbs have 4 calories per gram. Alcohol also inhibits fat burning immediately as soon as it reaches the blood stream.

Let’s talk about coffee. A cup of coffee here and there is not a bad thing BUT adding 1200 calories in sugar and cream turns your coffee into a weight gainer. Have it black or with natural zero calorie sweeteners like Stevia.

4) Skipping breakfast.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day simply because it jump starts your metabolism and sets the stage for the rest of the day.

“Eat like a king in the morning and like a peasant in the evening”

5) Eating irregular meals.

Today with our busy schedules, we skip breakfast and go most of the day barely eating, and once we get so hungry we eat whatever is around (usually nothing nutritious).

6) Going in for seconds.

The best way to combat this is to eat and wait a few minutes for the food to hit your blood stream BEFORE going for seconds. You will most likely will decide against it.

Eating healthy does not mean following a super-restrictive diet.

But you do have to watch what you put into your mouth.
