To Supplement or Not?
There is a reason the supplement industry is a billion dollar industry. Yes, a lot of people have hormonal imbalances, lack certain vitamins, minerals from poor nutrition which makes supplementing a necessity but the majority of the supplement industry is used for enhancing appearance. And yes, supplementation can improve a lot of our appearances if done correctly and consistently. In this post, I’ll go over a 7 supplements that can improve appearance by improving performance, recovery, and making sure you get your essentials nutrients to live a better quality of life. So here are 7 supplements I use to make sure I’ve optimized my health, appearance, workouts, and recovery and suggest you hop on.
1- Protein Shake– Protein is probably the main macronutrient (protein, carb, fat) needed for improved body composition. People that consume higher amounts of protein have better protein synthesis and have lower body fat levels which essentials means that have more muscle and less fat. Protein shakes are used for rebuilding the muscles you broke down during your workout. It also helps take your body from being in a catabolic (breakdown) state to an anabolic state for faster recovery. The faster you can recover the better your body will be able to handle the next workout.
Also, besides recovering from a workout. It’s very difficult to consume the proper amount of protein if you don’t have a liquid protein. Having solid food of protein every single meal and snack would not be feasible for 99% of people. The shakes are tasty and make it lifestyle friendly.
2- Pre-Workout drink– This is different than protein shake. This ingredients in most pre-workout drinks include beta alanine, nitric oxide, caffeine, Creatine. The purpose of these supplements are to increase focus, intensity, blood flow, and oxygen to your muscles to increase strength, endurance, and workout intensity. They should be consumed 20-30 min prior to working out and should be used to take your workouts to new levels.
3- Creatine- Creatine is produced by the body and also found in foods such as meat and fish. It’s a fuel source for ATP used for short bursts of power. So, taking Creatine will help keep your storage of Creatine higher leaving you to recover faster in between short powerful bursts which will also increase strength, and endurance. Creatine is also used to improve brain function and memory. Go pick some up to improve your performance and memory.
This is part 1 of 2 for supplementation. Keep your eye open for #2. Take action on this advice as knowledge is only power if knowledge is used.
Have a great day!
